Jason Gregory Legg, 29, of Nitro went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 21, 2011, from injuries received in an automobile accident.
Jason was a loving husband, father, son, brother and grandson and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was a Poca High School graduate, where he had played football for four years, played basketball, ran track, and sang with the State Champion Show Choir "Visual Volume." He attended West Virginia State University, where he played football and coached for two years. Jason recently coached youth soccer and was a member of the West Virginia Southern Board of Basketball Officials. He was employed by A+ Medical. He was a member of Christian Fellowship in Nitro where he was the children's pastor. He had a passion for working with children and youth and tried his best to exemplify Christ in all he did. He was involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was named "FCA Athlete of the Year" his senior year. Jason was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and a huge WVU Mountaineers fan.
He is survived by his wife, Amanda Dawn Taylor Legg; sons, Jonah C. Legg and Jackson T. Legg, both at home; his parents, Gregory C. and Jody D. Legg of Poca; sister, Karey C. Legg Stolle and husband, Mark, and their son, Landon, of Eleanor; grandparents, Jack E. and Lula M. Legg of South Charleston and James L. and Joy L. Weekley of Pliny; and father- and mother-in-law, Dion and Joyce Taylor; and brother-in-law and his wife, Brad and Bethany Taylor, all of Hurricane.
A celebration of Jason's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 26, at Poca High School Gymnasium with Pastor Mike Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
There will be a gathering of family and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Cooke Funeral Home, 2002 20th St., Nitro, and one hour prior to the service at the school.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to College Trust Fund for Jonah and Jackson, c/o Greg Legg, 24 Evergreen Circle, Poca, WV 25149.
